A builder and a joiner, since 2011.
Ben Marsh was a site manager for a national builder and hated the finish. Katrina Marsh ran a joinery workshop. They started Marsh & Tide with one remodel in Lilliput and the idea that the people who fit the windows should work for the people who built the walls.
Eight houses a year
That is the number we can build with our own people on site every day. It means we say no to more work than we take, and it means the same faces are there from the groundworks to the last coat of paint.
The workshop in Hamworthy employs eleven joiners and two stonemasons. The site teams are twenty-six people, most of whom have been with us more than five years. We do not use agency labour.
Honest from the first walk
Ben still walks every plot with the client before they buy it, in the worst weather he can find, and gives a build cost on the spot. It is usually right, and when it is not, we say so early.
Who you will deal with
Ben Marsh, managing director and your first call. Katrina Marsh, joinery and finishes. Oliver Peck, contracts manager, who runs the programme and the fortnightly report. Sam Ridley, site manager. Priya Nair, client liaison, who answers the phone.
